Weekend update

Well, this weekend has been busy. Saturday, we were invited to a friends birthday party, so we went over there and had a great time playing tennis and miniature golf. I tell you what, it was so much fun to play tennis again! I haven't really played since last spring and I really had a good time! :-) Then on Sunday, we went to church and really enjoyed being back there, got to talk to a lot of friends, then from there we went to my grandma's house and spent the rest of the day there. We had a great time, but I haven't had much time for blogging. :-( However, I hope to change that soon, and tell everyone about paging at the capitol, and write that article on separation of church and state.

Well, talk to you later!

Any Pages visit today?

Hello all,
I was just looking on here today and noticed I had 9 visits today so far. Just was wondering who is online today. I am so glad to be back. I will try to blog a bit about paging a little later as well as the "Church and State" article I talked about last post.

Update on me: I slept in today, got up about 12:30 or so. :-) Glad to have the weekend to get back in the flow of things. I will try to have another update soon. Also, I am glad to see what has been going on in the blogosphere while I have been away. It is amazing what can happen in just four days!

Talk to you later,

News and Coyote's roaming again

Hello all,

Coyotes Report: Well, yesterday as we were pulling in our driveway, we looked out into the pasture and saw three coyotes running across the field. Then this morning, there was a coyote sneaking around. I got the gun this morning but he was out of range. We are thinking about getting a .22 or a .243 so that when we see one, we could hit it. We also talked about getting a guard donkey(?) to protect the small calves.

Health Report: I am feeling ok today, I have a sinus headache and a stopped up nose, but not much else.

News Flash: I thought you might enjoy this story. Let me know what you think... :-)

A little old lady here in Oklahoma, was in her garage, when a attacker run up hit her several times, and then run off with her purse. The lady, while she was on the phone with police, handed a .45 handgun to her sister in law(I think) and the sister in law with her dog chased the robber down and held him at gunpoint until police arrived. Two thumbs up to the little lady!

Here is a song I thought everyone might like. We really like it. It is called "God Bless the U.S.A.

For all the History Fans

Hello everyone,

Heath Report: I am feeling a little better today, my throat is a little sore and I had a fever again last night. Please keep me in your prayers.

Now on to some cool history websites I found. The first is about a WWII offensive that up until I saw a program about it on the History channel, I don't know existed. It was called Operation Market Garden. Two sites on it are:

www.marketgarden.com I haven't looked at this one to well but it looks to be good.
www.rememberseptember44.com I read this one in depth, lots of information about what weapons they used and the day to day tactics of the battle.

And now to this site.

http://acacia.pair.com/Acacia.Vignettes/The.Diary.of.Alvin.York.html

I don't know if any of you have ever heard about a Christian Soldier in WWI named Alvin York, but if you have you know it is a great story! The site above lets you read from the journal he kept while in the army and such. He was a crack shot and went on the win the Congresstional Medal of Honor.

Happy Reading,
Travis

Sick today :-(

Hey everyone,
Sorry about the lack of posts, I thought I would post yesterday, but as I was sitting at the computer doing something other then blogging, I started to shake with fever. I don't notice right away, but it got worse. After I got into bed mom took my temperature, and I had 103. It was no fun. While I am sick, I would encourage you to go to Christian Coalition http://christiancoalition.blogspot.com and visit some of the great blogs listed there. I am better today and hope to keep blogging, however if there are no new posts, please check it out.

Have a good Saturday!

Encouragement for young men (Part 1)

Today we heard a great teaching at church, that I really enjoyed. It made me want to press deeper into the Word and search out the truth that is able to save your souls. After thinking this thought, a temptation tried to enter my mind. After taking the thought captive, I wondered "where did that thought come from?" I had not been thinking anywhere near those lines a minute before. Then suddenly it came to me. As soon as the word, (or seed as in the parable of the sower) is sown on the heart of a man, the forces of evil strive to snatch it away from us.(As in the parable of the sower where the seed is sown on the road and the birds sweep down and eat it) So when a young man is just kind of floating along, going through life, not really thinking on the Lord, or his way, the forces of evil don't have a problem with him as he is no threat to them. However, when that same young man is stirred up in righteousness, and encouraged in the way of the Lord by the word of God, then evil attacks and attempts to snatch away the word of truth, which is able to save the soul. So young men, I want to encourage you to step up to the plate, begin reading the Bible on a daily basis. There is much need for this. In the following verse God tells Joshua:

Josh 1:8 "This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.

And then again in the Psalms:

Ps 1:1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
Ps 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.Ps 1:3 He will be like a tree {firmly} planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

But a warning, as you read the word, there will be tests and trials that come to try to choke out the word, as stated in this verse:

1 Pet 4:12 ¶ Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
1 Pet 4:13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.
1 Pet 4:14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
1 Pet 4:15 Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;
1 Pet 4:16 but if {anyone suffers} as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.
1 Pet 4:17 For {it is} time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if {it} {begins} with us first, what {will be} the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
1 Pet 4:18 AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER?

This brings me to a point. There are two halves, if you will, to the Christian walk, The first half is learning the fear of the Lord to begin learning wisdom, and beginning to cease from sin. After that we begin to learn how to walk as the Lord would have us walk. That is where we "overcome evil with good" and replace our old sinful man with a new man in Christ. We become a new creation. It is a matter of ceasing from sin, and learning to walk in how God wants you to walk. Putting off ungodliness and putting on love, joy, peace, ect.

We also sang a song called "How can a young man keep is way pure?" The answer is "By keeping it according to Thy Word". Well, if a young man is not reading the word and stirring up the word(seed) that the Lord in His mercy, has sown within him(The young man), how will the truth come and minister when the time of trail comes? This verse has the right idea. "Thy Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee". How can we learn to be a man for Christ, if we do not study His word! Here is some instruction Paul gives to Timothy:

2 Tim 2:19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness."
2 Tim 2:20 ¶ Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor.
2 Tim 2:21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these {things,} he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
2 Tim 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love {and} peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

We as young men are to flee from evil(sin, lust, ect.) and pursue faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart! Furthermore we are instructed:

1 Tim 4:12 Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but {rather} in speech, conduct, love, faith {and} purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
1 Tim 4:13 Until I come, give attention to the {public} reading {of Scripture,} to exhortation and teaching.
1 Tim 4:14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery.
1 Tim 4:15 Take pains with these things; be {absorbed} in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.
1 Tim 4:16 Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.

I was reminded of this in part by Michael over at http://bloggingteen.blogspot.com/ It seems to me, that his is living up to the verse above. By his striving to follow his Maker, he has encouraged me to do the same. I hope that all Christian young men rally to the Word this coming week, and for all weeks forevermore!

God Bless,
The Blogging Boy Scout,
Travis

Saturday Evening Post

Hello everyone,

Sorry this Saturday post is so late, but as they say, better late then never.

Well, today I read a bit about a World War II offence called "Market Garden". Yesterday, up at my Grandma's, I watched a show about it on the History Channel. I might post about that some time soon. We cleaned house a good bit of the day, then took time out for a wonderful dinner. :-)
I am thinking of adding comments with haloscan soon.

Well, Talk to you later,
Travis

Good Morning!

Hey Guys!
Today I got up earily to make sure I would get my blog in. Boy, there have been some great posts the last couple days. But, before I go into all that, I just want to say that the presidents speech last night was incredable! Thanks to Alex http://www.smarthomeschool.com/ and Jake http://www.mission36teen.com/ I found a cope of the speech.

You can read it here. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/01/20040120-7.html

Alex had a great summery of the State of the Union address.
http://www.smarthomeschool.com/

Jake has a good post about the State of the Union address and about Evolution. http://www.mission36teen.com/

And Tim has a good post about the Blog Awards. http://agenttim.blogspot.com/

I hope everyone will take time and vote in the new poll. The question I am asking is "What type of posts would you like to see here?". I am eagerly awaiting the votes as they come in.

New Poll Question and News

Hey Guys,
Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Things get busy and I couldn't seem to fit it in. I will try to work on that though. :-)

In the News: Tonight at 9 EST, President George W. Bush will give his state of the union address. I look forward to it and hope everyone will watch it. I should be an enlightening speech about just what the President has planed for the next 4 years...

Update on serving as a page for the OK State Senate: I got my packet today from the capital and I am getting excited about the chance to serve as a page at the capital. I think it will be a lot of fun and also very educational. A page is not allowed a computer in is hotel room, so I will have to tell you all about it when I get back. :-)

Poll Changes: I thought today would be a good day for a new poll question, so here it is! "What kind of articles would you like to see on this site. I have suggested a few ideas I had and turned on comments so you can suggest your own! I hope you will enjoy following the new poll!

Thanks,
In Christ,
The Blogging Boy Scout,
Travis
